Glaucoma
Glaucoma drops are for every day

Glaucoma
They are not felt and they do not relieve a symptom: that is why they get forgotten. What they do is hold the pressure while the nerve holds on.
A treatment you cannot feel is hard to keep up. Glaucoma drops do not take away pain or improve vision overnight: they lower eye pressure so the optic nerve stops being lost. The result is measured in what does NOT happen.
So they can do their job
- At the same time every day: pressure rises when a dose runs late.
- One drop is enough; the eye cannot hold more and the rest runs down your cheek.
- Close your eye for a minute without squeezing, instead of blinking repeatedly.
- If you use two different drops, leave five minutes between them.
If a drop irritates you, reddens your eye or you simply cannot keep the schedule, say so at your visit. There is more than one route, and the best treatment is the one you can actually keep.
